Willows is based at Parkview Clinic which is a provision for 35 inpatients who are being assessed and/or treated with serious mental health needs. Depending on the cohort of pupils at any time Key Stage (KS) 2, KS3, KS4, KS5 will be taught following a core curriculum of maths, English and science complemented by work received from the home school to ensure that progress is maintained throughout their stay at Parkview Clinic.

For KS5 age pupils who are currently not in employment, education or training (NEET), a personalised package of education is designed. This package focuses on the pupil’s interests whilst also encouraging and facilitating GCSE re-sits where appropriate. NEET pupils have access to and are supported and advised by the school careers coordinator who identifies with the pupil a route to education, employment or training for post discharge.

Where their medical condition allows, pupils are taught in a small school environment which is separate from the Parkview building, on a full timetable with specialist teachers. When pupils are unable to access the teaching centre due to their level of risk or medical intervention pathway they are taught on one of the three wards (Ashfield, Heathlands and Irwin).

Our School History

James Brindley School Administration Centre Birmingham

We teach across 11 sites including teaching centres and hospitals in Birmingham. We also provide support for children finding it difficult to access education outside of the home, due to both physical or mental health related reasons. We find children and young people respond best when they feel comfortable in their surroundings, which is why staff work hard to ensure that every pupil in our care receives the best possible education in a safe, stimulating and supportive environment.
